Teachers’ Guild Awards (TEGA)
Teachers play a profound role in shaping the lives of children. Beyond delivering lessons and building academic capabilities, they influence how students think, learn, question, persevere and see themselves and the world around them.
The Teachers’ Guild Awards (TEGA) is D4A’s initiative to recognise and celebrate teachers who have made a meaningful contribution to the lives of their students and to the teaching profession.
TEGA seeks to bring greater recognition to the dedication, commitment, expertise and impact of teachers across different stages of their careers. It celebrates educators who have consistently contributed to the growth of their students and who demonstrate the qualities that can inspire others within the teaching community.
The awards also seek to create a platform where educators can be recognised not only for their years of service, but for the difference they make through their teaching, their relationship with students, their professional commitment and their contribution to the wider educational community.
Award Categories

Shiksha Ratna
A lifetime achievement recognition for teachers with more than 25 years of service, honouring their sustained dedication, contribution and influence over the course of their teaching careers.

Shiksha Vibhushan
Recognising teachers with 15 to 25 years of experience who have made a significant contribution to their students and inspired them to pursue their goals and realise their potential.

Shiksha Bhushan
Recognising teachers with 5 to 10 years of experience who have demonstrated strong subject expertise, effective teaching practices and a meaningful contribution to their students' learning.

Shiksha Shri
Recognising young teachers with up to 5 years of experience who have brought enthusiasm, fresh thinking and innovative approaches to their classrooms and developed strong connections with their students.
Beyond Recognition
TEGA is intended to be more than an awards programme. It seeks to create a community of educators who can learn from one another, share experiences and inspire each other.
Through the wider TEGA platform, D4A seeks to facilitate opportunities for professional development, knowledge sharing and collaboration among educators. Workshops, seminars, interactions and other engagements can provide teachers with opportunities to exchange ideas, explore new approaches and learn from the experiences of their peers.
By recognising teachers and creating opportunities for them to connect and grow, TEGA seeks to contribute to a stronger and more connected teaching community.
