D4A for Serving Society and State (dServe)
Childhood and adolescence are important stages in which empathy, compassion and a sense of responsibility towards society can be nurtured.
We believe that education and development go beyond academic learning. They are also about helping young individuals understand the importance of caring for the people and world around them.
dServe is D4A's social impact initiative, created to encourage and enable individuals, particularly young people, to extend care and service to society. It brings together people who share a spirit of caring, giving and creating meaningful change.
The journey of dServe began with a simple idea and a powerful belief: even the smallest contribution can create a meaningful difference.
What began with young people coming together to support those in need grew through a series of simple acts of kindness and collective responsibility. From contributing small amounts towards supporting children facing financial challenges to coming together to support people within their own communities, these early efforts demonstrated that meaningful change does not always require large resources. It begins with the willingness to notice a need and do something about it.
Recognising the potential of such efforts, dServe was created to channel this spirit of caring and service into a wider platform. Over time, it has grown into a collective effort supported by individuals and volunteers who believe in contributing their time, resources, capabilities and networks towards meaningful social causes.

Coming Together in a Time of Need
During the Karnataka floods in 2019, the spirit of dServe took another form as young people and their wider communities came together to support those affected by the floods.

To collect it all
Nearly 10,000 children participated in the effort, collectively raising funds and gathering essential commodities including rice, biscuits and other supplies. Within a week, the initiative resulted in the collection of ₹4,00,100, along with essential relief materials.
What began as an effort by children soon brought together parents, teachers and the wider community, demonstrating the power of collective action during a time of need.
Children’s Day Out

A group of volunteers came together to organise a special day for more than 60 children from an orphanage. With contributions collected from individuals, families and residential communities, the volunteers put together a day filled with food, games, gifts, laughter and plenty of time to simply have fun.

The children spent the day playing games, enjoying shared meals and receiving gifts thoughtfully put together for them. What made the day special was not just what was organised, but the coming together of many people who were willing to contribute in their own way to create a joyful experience for the children.
The day was a simple reminder that creating happiness does not always require something extraordinary. Sometimes, a little time, a little generosity and a group of people coming together can create memories that stay with a child for a long time.
